Recently Italian and European Institutions have shown a growing interest in the therapeutic opportunities offered by Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). This interest resulted, in some Italian regions, in the inclusion of TCM among treatments provided by the National healthcare system. It has also led the European Union to finance the four-year research project China and Europe Taking Care of Healthcare Solutions (CHETCH) which aims, among other objectives, at the integration between Western and Chinese medicine.
The Association of Medical Acupuncturists of Bologna (A.M.A.B.), which is a member of Italian Federation of Acupuncture Societies (FISA) and of the Society for Acupuncture Research (SAR), is one of the most representative institutions of Acupuncture in Europe.
